Structural Steel Fire Protection
Encasement’s from a non-decorative mineral fibre to a powder-coated pre-finished enclosure. Such systems can be quickly and efficiently installed and are the ideal choice for steelwork safety where resistance to impact is significant.
Intumescent paints and sealants can protect steelwork for up to 2 hours and, because of the short sprayed application times, are a highly cost-effective method that minimises interruptions to other tradespeople on site.
Decorative coatings on structural steel that need a specific colour finish, or just to improve visual inspection of the steel, can be added. Castle always places maximum importance on the quality & compatibility of the materials used for the specific locations and environments to ensure a professional and long lasting finish.

Board structures, including inner beams and columns, are used to form enclosures around steel members. The boards may directly be painted or other finishes. The degree of resistance to fire depends on the type, thickness and method of attachment of the boards used.
Improve existing doors to achieve fire integrity for up to 30 minutes. Doors with a range of coloured fire paints and fire varnishes are upgraded in different ways.
Collars and wraps to protect all sorts of fire walls and floors that must be divided up. The intumestine material in a steel pipe collar expands and collapses the plastic pipe when exposed to fire.
The wraps do the same, they are recessed into the wall, so fire does not jump from one part of the building to another.

Fire batts are made of Rockwool and are coated on either side with intumescent particles, are available in both 2 and 4 hour fire resistance and have acoustic qualities to provide a firm-fire proof seal, which can be cut to any size or can be joined together for different sizes of voids in walls and floor.
Treatment for internal and external timber cladding offering “Class O” protection, “class O” is a flame-standard surface distribution, not a fire-penetration level.
Intumescent and acoustic acrylic scellant, which is used for sealing joint, void and irregular holes in fire walls, partitions and other structures to prevent fire and smoke from passing and has a fire rating of up to 5 hours, usually to preserve the integrity of piping or cable that penetrates it and is used to seal the fire around.
Intumescent and acoustic silicones have a fire rating of up to 4 hours and are typically used for all building and glazing joints, which need good workmanship.
Castles installation of underfloor fire barrier is a graphite impregnated fabric barrier with reinforced kraft paper, intended to provide fire protection and wood flooring support for 60 minutes. Perfect for the protection of wooden joist floors over suspended ceilings.
Castle Contracting can also supply and install a 40 mm thick sponge that fits between the joists to provide protection against acoustics and insulation.
